From Jay's Desk: We need to do MORE

I am a World War II buff.

Both of my Grandfathers fought in that war and by doing their small part in a large campaign helped prevent fascism from taking over the world. One of my favorite WWII movie quotes is from Alec Baldwin's character in "Pearl Harbor". He says, "Do you know how we're going to win this war? It's them. (pointing to volunteer army) And it's times like these you see them."

Anthropologist and Author, Margaret Mead said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

The concept of the American citizen has always included a sense of responsibility to those around us, in our communities, and our nation. This especially applies to our children.

We have proven time and time again that when we are made aware of a problem and decide to do something about it NOTHING can stop us from achieveing a goal.

I have two small children and I refuse to let them grow up in an America where we turn a blind eye to suffering children. Especially when we have every resource to end it with a simple decision.

The POWER that exists in the American Community is stronger, more resilient, and more unstoppable than any force on this earth. And it is that American Community that is going to save these children.

America has the money, the food, and the programs.

But WE:

the individuals in this country need to do MORE to make the nation AWARE of this crisis

the businesses in this counry need to do MORE to focus our philanthropic dollars toward metrically

provable, SOLUTION oriented programs and organazations to end this crisis

the COMMUNITIES in this country need to stand together, pool our resources and LOVE our children

enough to MAKE this solution a reality.

The WIll Play For Food Foundation was specifically designed to engage the American Community wherever they are. Not only can people donate funds on our website, they also can make a difference with every day spending by supporting our WPFF business iPartners, who donate a portion of sales to feed children in their community. We call this concept, Community Connect. It's people and businesses taking care of their own.

With Community Connect and our other tools, including the WPFF FoodFighters (our street team) and the Community Connect iPrograms, there is NO limit to how someone can use their skills and talents to make a difference in the lives of their communities' children.
